[Richard Lawson] from Culver’s Lake, New Jersey: “I fly an
airplane that I built myself…I built it in my living room”
Lawson, a machinist by trade, worked
on his plane for seven years, filling the room during that time. In 1959 (
E325
), a California housewife had a
similar secret.
Edith Griffin locked burglars inside a grocery store with her own
padlock until police could arrive to arrest them.
Henry brought this Secret to the
producers, so he hosts this segment while Garry takes his place on the panel. In
an unusual twist, the Secret is not revealed to the audience, allowing them to
play at home.
Special guest Hugh O’Brian: “I’m going to tear this phone book in
half…Bess Myerson taught me how to do it”
Back when large, thick phone books
were the means for looking up numbers, ripping them in half was considered a
demonstration of strength, though there were tricks to it. Both O’Brian and Bess demonstrate using
Bronx-area directories. O’Brian is
performing at the Westbury Music Fair on Long Island in a production of Mister Roberts.
