Guy Theron from Paris and his daughters Esmeralda and Miree bring
in a satchel which contains: “A bicycle…We’re all going to ride it together”
The Therons are circus performers with
a bicycle act. Guy has been performing
since the 1940s, and raised his daughters in the act. Here, he pedals the tiny bicycle as his
daughters stand on his shoulders
.
Marte Latham from New York City is an explorer who on a recent
expedition brought back: “A worm…It’s more than 4 feet long”
Latham collects exotic jungle animals
and plants, primarily in South America, for zoos, museums, animal dealers and
pharmaceutical companies. This
particular assignment was for the Mellon Institute in Pittsburgh. She would
write about her adventures in My Animal
Queendom (Chilton 1963). Her
presentation of the giant worm is met with entertaining revulsion by the panel. Latham appeared with a much more adorable
animal in a 1956 Easter show. (

Special guest Morey Amsterdam drops
jokes into the panelists’ impromptu speeches.
Amsterdam has a reputation for having a vast collection of jokes in his
head on any subject, so this game is more about proving that talent than
anything the panel is doing. Later this
fall, Amsterdam would take on what would become his most famous role, as joke
writer Buddy Sorrell on The Dick Van Dyke
Show (1961-1966).
