Six musicians, holding instruments: “We are a name band…our last
names are the same as the instruments we play”
The Secret
staff pulled the sextet together by perusing the membership directory of the
musicians’ union. The performers are Gil
Chimes, Bernie Bass, Tony Piano, Manny Fiddler (violin), Aaron Sax and Roy Horn
(trumpet). They perform “Honeysuckle
Rose” (1928).
80-year-old Joseph F Carr from Yonkers, New York: “I made my first
parachute jump”
Carr celebrated his birthday with a
jump on June 12. He is working toward
getting his pilot’s license. Carr is an
entertaining flirt on the show. (Bess:
“Now Mr. Carr, don’t fool with me.”
Carr: “I’d like to, but I won’t.”)
Special guest Tony Randall engages the
panel in an acting competition. One
panelist is given a short phrase, and must convey a specific emotion (romantic,
shy, giddy) for their partner to guess. Randall will soon be seen in The Brass Bottle (1964).
