Dr. Robert Keast submerges himself in
a tank of water during the show’s cold open. He remains under water through the opening and the introduction of the
blindfolded panelists, who must guess that he’s been holding his breath all
that time. Dr. Keast, an underwater
enthusiast, appeared in 1956 (
E204
) with the same secret. Although he was once the world record holder
for staying submerged, with a time of over 13 minutes, here he lasts only about
four minutes before popping out and ending the bit.
Michael McNamara from Crown Point, New York: “I can balance myself
on one finger”
Now 16,
McNamara is also making his second appearance on the show. He appeared at age 13 in 1960 (
E385
). He not only performs the stated Secret, but
also performs other stunts standing on his hands.
Special guest Arthur Godfrey leads the
panel in a performance of “The Twelve Days of Christmas,” assisted by Norman
Paris on the piano.
