Dee Woolem from Rogers, Arkansas: “I can draw my gun, cock it, aim
it and pull the trigger before Garry can clap his hands.”
Woolem is in
full cowboy getup. He is a four-time
winner of the National Fast Draw Championship.
He calls himself “The Daisy Kid” because he tours the country promoting
the Daisy line of toy cap guns. In the
1950s, he robbed trains in a “ghost town” for tourists at the Knotts Berry Farm
amusement park.
Sgt. Joseph Lanzrath and Lance Corporal Ken Barrett from London,
Ontario: “We jumped from an airplane.”
Lanzrath: “My parachute failed to open” and Barrett: “I caught him in
mid-air”
The men are
members of the Royal Canadian Army. The
incident happened on April 19, on a routine jump from 1250 feet. Barrett was a rookie paratrooper, later decorated
for his resourcefulness and bravery. The show covered similar ground on a 1956
episode (
E175
).
Special guest Ray Bolger tries to get
the panelists to ask specific questions, using his actions and props to push
them in the right direction. He ends
riding off on horseback, only to return to lead the Nassau Women’s Band in a
parade. Bolger plugs the upcoming Walt
Disney live-action movie Babes In Toyland (1961) in which he plays the evil Barnaby.
