Nathan Boya from New York City: “I went over Niagara Falls in a 6-foot ball”
On July 15, Boya went over Canada’s Horseshoe Falls in a metal ball he helped design and which he called the “Plunge-O-Sphere.”  He did not get a permit for his stunt, and was arrested and fined afterwards.  He would stay out of the public eye for decades afterwards, but in 2012 he contributed to a National Geographic TV special about Niagara daredevils.  Boya was the first African-American to go over Niagara Falls and survive.  Jean Lussier, the first person to go over Niagara in a ball, was a guest in 1952 ( E20 ).

Patrolman George F Healey from Lynn, Massachusetts was named Policeman of the Year in his hometown, however: “I never got to my banquet…No one told me about it”
The distinguished members of the Lynn Exchange Club luncheon on February 14 included a current and former Chief of Police.  The latter, being Healey’s brother, accepted on his behalf.  Patrolman Healey was eating his own lunch elsewhere and couldn’t be found.

Special guest Eve Arden brings sound effect machines from the classic days of radio.  The panelists come up with humorous “captions” for various elaborate effects, trying to top the prepared gags written by the staff.  A fun, comedic segment.
