Julius B Schuster from Orlando, Florida: “I’ll pick up and hold
these 10 tennis balls with one hand”
Schuster has such control of his large
and dexterous hands that not only can he pick up all ten balls without using
his other hand, but he can also throw the balls back to Garry one at a time
using the single hand. Schuster was part
of the Ripley’s Believe It Or Not tours and exhibits as far back as the 1930s, with demonstrations that also
involved baseballs and billiard balls.
Joan Gerdes and her father Otto Gerdes from New York City: “We both
graduated from the same high school last June…Now we’re both freshmen in the
same college”
Mr. Gerdes, at age 53 and having
retired from the grocery business two years ago, decided to return to
school. He took night classes at George
Washington High School where his daughter attended during the day, and both
enrolled in City College of New York in the fall, both hoping to become
teachers.
Special Guest Vivian Vance answers the
panel’s questions with prepared responses.
Later, her responses along with Garry’s pretaped portion of the
conversation create a dramatic scene.
Vance will be seen with Henry Fonda on his TV series The Deputy (1959-1961) in a rare
dramatic role. Vance was best known, of course, for her costarring work
alongside Lucille Ball, first as Ethel on I
Love Lucy (1951-1958) and later as Vivian on the first three seasons of The Lucy Show (1962-1968).
