Mr. and Mrs. Leo Traylor from St Petersburg, Florida: “We built
the furniture in our 8-room house for $195”
Much of the Traylor’s wooden
possessions are on stage. They made
their furniture from scrap lumber and repurposed wood from old telephone poles,
barrels, bridges and other unusual sources.
Not surprisingly, Mr. Traylor teaches woodworking.
Lt Paul Keefe and Lt. Michael Cronin of the U S Army: “We just
graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy at Annapolis”
In 1959, for the first time, a new law
let graduates of the various service academies choose to be commissioned in a
different branch of the armed forces.
Out of a graduating class of 802 midshipmen, 83 picked the Air Force, 57
went into the Marine Corps, and six picked the Army.
Special Guest Ginger Rogers separates
truth from fiction in press clippings about the panel members. Previous quotes are superimposed over the
panel members’ faces, and are then tested for their veracity. A cute piece.
Rogers is heading to San Francisco where she will star in a new stage
comedy called The Pink Jungle. It would play in San Francisco, Detroit and
Boston to solid business but poor reviews (especially for Rogers), ultimately
closing late in 1959 before reaching Broadway.
