Wrestler Gorgeous George: “I’m wearing a wig…I lost a bet and had
to shave my head”
Long before the WWE, George was the
first true wrestling superstar.
Wrestling had been a staple of early television, but George, with his
flamboyance and theatricality, fascinated the public outside the ring as well
as inside it. His platinum blonde locks
were his trademark, so losing them in a March 12 match seen by millions on
television was set up as the ultimate humiliation. Ever the showman, he displays his smoothly
shaved dome after the game.
Mrs. Agnes Clarkston and her son George Liebl, both from Eagle,
Wisconsin: “We’re both sergeants in the Army”
Master Sergeant Agnes outranks
Sergeant First Class George.
