[Lt Rodney Preston] in a space suit: “I will eat a turkey dinner
through a tube”
[Frances Leach]: “My husband knit the dress I am wearing”
Special Guest Robert Evans holds a
Cinderella-like contest for a woman out of the studio audience to replace Betsy
Palmer on the panel next week.
Applicants literally try on one of Betsy’s shoes. Betsy is scheduled to go to Hollywood to
appear in the film The Last Angry Man (1959). Confusion reigns momentarily
because Betsy delayed her trip and intends to be on the show next week. The winner of the contest, Mrs. Dorothy
Ellington, would appear on the panel two weeks later (
E313
) instead. As an actor, Evans made only six pictures in
the 1950s. He would successfully
transition to a career on the business end of show business, becoming a top movie
producer of the 1970s and at one point running Paramount Pictures. Through scandals and controversies, not to
mention seven marriages, Evans would become a colorful, larger-than-life figure
and the target of many spoofs and parodies.
