Mr. and Mrs. Jack Joachim of Biloxi, Mississippi: “We have 17
children”
Wacky childbirth. The
entire family appears onstage after the game.
The Joachims would briefly figure into next week’s program as well.
Mrs. Nancy Robinson and her son Charles Robinson: “We graduated
from high school together last week”
Mrs. Robinson had originally only attended school through the
tenth grade before dropping out. Though
not mentioned on the show, the Robinsons are from Jupiter, Florida.
Special Guest Tony Curtis
Curtis brings with him various childhood games
and activities he claims to have played growing up on the streets of New York. The panel attempts some of the games. Later, Curtis plays a quick Secret: “I’m
about to become a father.” His then-wife
Janet Leigh would give birth on November 22 to a girl who would grow up to be
actress Jamie Lee Curtis. Tony Curtis is on hand to promote his new film The Vikings (1958).
According to Gil Fates in his book What’s My Line?, this episode, particularly the Curtis segment, was a disaster that proved to be the last straw in the long-simmering fight between Allan Sherman and the Goodson-Todman
company. Sherman would be credited as
producer for next week’s sixth anniversary program but was otherwise out of a
job.
