Garry opens by thanking Hal March for filling in the week before, noting that March normally gives away huge amounts of money on The $64,000 Question while here on Secret the maximum payout is eighty bucks. Jayne is featured in this week’s issue of TV-Radio Mirror.
Eight Mr X's: "We flew around the world in 45 hours, 19 minutes" (last week)
Not only are their names withheld but the panel plays the game blindfolded. Neither is enough as the timely secret is guessed quickly. Codenamed Operation Power Flite, the mission launched in secret on January 16 (not even the crewmembers' wives knew what they were doing) but once the Air Force made it public during the flight, it quickly became front-page news. In these Cold War years, the stated goal was to prove US abilities to drop a hydrogen bomb anywhere in the world. This crew helmed the lead B-52 of the three that completed the flight, refueling in mid-air when necessary. Their names are Colonel James Morris, aircraft commander; Captain Quintis Hinkley, ECM operator; Sergeant Donovan Higginbotham, crew chief; Major Anthony Dzierski, navigator; Major Albert Wooten, navigator; Sgt Carl Ballew, gunner; Captain Ernest Campbell, pilot; and Captain Rene Woog, navigator. During the postgame interview, Garry asks several questions that turn out to have classified answers but elicits that the plane flew an average of 540 mph. Film taken during the flight is projected onto the wall behind the panel while Colonel Morris narrates.
Bill Toney from El Paso, Texas: "I have 24 deadly weapons concealed on my person"
Toney wears an unremarkable men’s suit onstage. Following the game, Henry and Jayne are tasked with finding all 24 deadly weapons but come up several short. In addition to normal firearms, the weapons he's concealing include bicycle chains, a stiletto, saw blades (in his shoes) and a tear gas gun. Toney is a Border Patrol agent in El Paso and an expert marksman who has won titles and competed internationally. He announces that the Border Patrol needs help and is now accepting applications.
Special guest Bob Cummings: "I'm watching my own love scenes"
"Love scenes" by 50s TV sitcom standards, anyway. The panel is once again blindfolded as Cummings watches clips from his self-titled series on the wall behind their desk. In The Bob Cummings Show (1955-1959) Bob played a Hollywood photographer and ladies' man named Bob. Also featured in the cast was Ann B Davis, who would later play the maid Alice on The Brady Bunch. On this series, she plays Bob's assistant Schultzy, and would win two Emmy Awards for her role.
