Bill, Jayne, Henry, Faye
Garry the weatherman: “It’s a miserable, cold, wet, windy night in
New York City.”
Chief of Police Porter Rhodes, Jr. from
Rochester, IN: “I received a parking ticket from one of my men”
Chief Rhodes was ticketed in February
of 1953 by one of his newer patrolmen, who by the time of this show had already
left the force. We are assured it had
nothing to do with this incident.
Mrs. Hewlett Hodges from Sylacauga, AL: “I was
hit by a meteorite”
Elizabeth was struck by the nine pound
stone in her farmhouse just weeks earlier, on November 30. Garry displays the melon-sized rock after the
game. The incident almost immediately
brought controversy, first as the local Air Force base briefly took possession
of it, and later as both the Hodges and their landlord claimed ownership of the
meteorite, which had attracted attention from interested bidders. The parties would settle out of court in
September of 1955, with the Hodges maintaining ownership and paying a small sum
to the landlord. By that time though,
the public had lost interest, and the Hodges could not find a buyer. They donated it to the University of Alabama
in 1956.
Special Guest Peter Lorre turns the tables on
Garry
Lorre and the panel present Garry with
embarrassing bits related to some of the challenges he subjected the panel to
over the course of the past year. Garry
is fed boiled rattlesnake (based on a February 24 game
E72
), is given an ice
cream sundae to eat while blindfolded and attached to a reducing machine
(November 17
E110
), is hoisted by a crane into the rafters after answering yes
and no questions (March 17
E75
), and engages in a snowball fight with Bill and
Henry (January 20
E67
).
