A special Thanksgiving episode

Mr. and Mrs [Louis Plotkin] from the Bronx, NY: “We paid off our mortgage today”
The Plotkins are an elderly couple, but had only been paying on their mortgage for 27 years, hardly a notable period of time.  The show also presents them with a new refrigerator.

Garry has his own secret: “I’m going to serve that turkey for Thanksgiving”
That turkey is “Nervous Ned”, introduced in the opening.  Just when the panel appeared to be alarmed at Garry’s cavalier plans for the live bird, Garry serves ground corn TO the turkey.  The show provides sanctuary to the bird, donating it to a children’s zoo.

[Douglas Bradley], a young student from Washington Public School in Union, NJ: “My classmates are going to do our 1st grade Thanksgiving play”
The pageant, which seems to enthrall Garry, takes up almost ten minutes of valuable network television time.  The kids are adorable, but it’s a pretty odd choice.  The kids’ teacher, 8th grade pianist and principal are all introduced, and the show arranged with Macy’s to have toys for all the kids to enjoy on the bus ride home.
