David L Cohen from Memphis, Tennessee: “I had my toupee stolen”
This barely noteworthy secret took place ten years ago.  Maybe we just weren't trying as hard in the summertime.  The next two are good though!

Dick Miles from New York City:  “I am the National table tennis champion”
Miles defended his US title back in March in the championships held in Cleveland.  In fact, this was his eighth national title, and he would go on to win two more.  Even today, no other player has won more US titles.  Though he was competitive with the world's elite players, he never won a world championship.  Miles played the game from a young age, and in a fascinating profile back in February, he seemed tired of the whole thing.  In the story, which called him "probably the most disillusioned champ in sports," he complained about everything from the low earnings potential in his field to the redundancy of winning trophy after trophy ("we use 'em for ash trays") to the fact that he hadn't found time to meet women.   After retiring from competitive play, Miles would perform in exhibitions.  In 1971 as the US and China made tentative efforts toward warmer relationships, he was part of a team that traveled to China and gave rise to the term "Ping-Pong diplomacy."  He would also write The Game of Table Tennis (Lippincott 1968).  He even found a woman, a companion of four decades until his death in 2010.

Special guest Chester Morris:  “I’m going to saw Jayne Meadows in half”
In addition to being known as a tough-guy actor, perhaps most famous for his role in the Boston Blackie detective series of the 1940s, Morris was a noted amateur magician.  He got in trouble with members of the professional ranks back in 1947 when he was featured in an article in Popular Mechanics magazine explaining how certain well-known tricks were done.  That, of course, is forbidden in magic circles.  His reputation thereafter in the magic community was mixed.   As a celebrity, he brought positive attention to their craft, but many were unable to forgive that one ultimate betrayal.
