Police lieutenant Chester "Smock" Simpson from Nutley, New Jersey was called to investigate a complaint that kids were repeatedly ringing a woman's doorbell and running away. His finding: "The sound the woman heard was the I've Got a Secret buzzer on her TV"
Margaret M Sherwood called in the complaint a couple weeks back, apparently unable to differentiate between the sound of her own door buzzer and the TV effect, and also apparently paying so little attention to the show that the context of its use during the games eluded her. Mrs Sherwood was satisfied, but the story of the report appeared in the local newspaper, and several readers sent the clipping to the show. Simpson donated his winnings to the local Boys Club where he is a boxing instructor.
