Janet claims to have blown a bubble 20
½ inches in competition. Garry
challenges her to a quick faceoff but is no match for the champ. [See

Max Ceppos of Long Beach, Long Island: “I did
the barking in the record Doggie in the Window”
Max was the violinist on the Patti
Page hit, and also contributed the unusual vocals. On the record, the barks are credited to “Joe
and Mac”. Joe would get his acknowledgement
on the next program.
Special Guest Red Buttons: “I’ve got the
panelists’ paychecks in my pocket”
Buttons was primarily known as a young
comic and the star of his own CBS variety show when he made this
appearance. A few years later, he would surprise
audiences and critics with a dramatic turn in the film Sayonara (1957) earning an Oscar for it. He appeared in dramatic and comedic roles in
the years that followed, and found a new audience for his standup in the 1970s
with the “Never Got a Dinner” routines he would perform at various roasts, especially
the Dean Martin TV specials.
