Special guest Chad Everett will communicate with a talking computer 3000 miles away.
The computer is in the Bell Labs Complex in Holmdel, New
Jersey. Anita helps with the
demonstration and “talks” with the computer using a touch-tone telephone, still
something of a novelty in 1973. The goal
is to use such a computer to teach children to read, though at this early juncture in computer technology the "lesson" is simplistic and little more than a stunt. Everett’s TV series Medical Center (1969-1976) is in the middle of its seven-season run. Steve’s wife Jayne Meadows has an occasional
supporting role on the show as Nurse Chambers.
