Special guest Hugh Downs offers a current-events news quiz to the panel.  A newspaper strike in New York City has left New Yorkers without access to their main source for news.  The strike started on December 8, 1962 and would last until March 31.  Striking union members were fighting low wages, as well as new methods of automating the presses that would require fewer workers.

Nine middle aged men come in wearing overcoats and galoshes, under which they are wearing: “Our ballet costumes…we’re going to dance a ballet”
The men are all members of the same Irvington, New Jersey swim club. They performed in a variety show as a lark, but then began getting requests to perform at benefits.  The group earnestly performs “Dance of the Flutes” from Tchaikovsky’s The Nutcracker (1892).  They would perform again later in the year ( E543 ).
