Bill, Betsy, Henry, Bess

Comic Lenny Kent, who is known as “Mr. Recapitulation” for his ability to entertainingly summarize events he has just watched, opens the show by describing the commercials and station break that preceded the show.  He will appear at the end of the show to recap the entire program.  His unusual act consists mostly of jabbering nonsense, with occasional clear phrases serving as punchlines.

Yoel Sharr from Israel: “I play music on my teeth”
Sharr performs “Never on Sunday” (1960) on his teeth (and assorted other body parts) backed by Norman Paris and his Orchestra.  Separate from this novelty act, Sharr is an accomplished jazz musician who can play multiple actual instruments.  He would continue to perform and record in a career that spanned decades but never really generated significant attention.

Mrs. Irene Franklin from Watertown, South Dakota: “I’m the only teacher in my school” and Rhonda Hogstad, also from Watertown: “I’m the entire student body”
Mrs. Franklin was hired to teach seven children, but six of them moved away or chose private schools, leaving the two of them alone.  Rhonda is in the fifth grade.

Mrs. Howard Sugarman from Briarwood, New York: “I’m the world’s fastest talker (750 words per minute)”
Mrs. Sugarman works as an actress under the name Amy Sidell.  She has a handful of credits, mostly in early radio.  The panel reads Goldilocks and the Three Bears in tandem, finishing in a minute and 28 seconds.  Mrs. Sugarman reads the same story in 55 seconds.
