C.R. Hutcheson from Lubbock, Texas: “I’m the 1962 World’s Champion
Liar…These other awards are not mine – I lied”
Hutcheson is
backed by dozens and dozens of trophies for sports accomplishments, trophies he
had never seen before tonight. He won
his actual recognition from the Burlington Liars’ Club of Burlington, Wisconsin. The Burlington club has been handing out its
award for creative yarn spinners since 1929 and is still in existence today.
Alvin Richter from Miami, Florida has a suitcase which contains:
“One million dollars’ worth of jewelry”
Richter is a
jeweler who recently acquired the eleven valuable pieces from the estate of a
Mrs. Helen Young. His visit to New York
also included appearances on the Today show and on Play Your Hunch. Garry injures his hand demonstrating the
effectiveness of the booby-trapped suitcase.
Special guest Van Johnson has a game
which refers back to his last appearance in 1960 (
E390
) in which the panel
and Garry put their footprints in wet cement.
The footprints eventually made their way to Louis Tussaud’s Waxworks in
Niagara Falls, Canada. As the panel asks
questions, Johnson responds with comments tourists have made about the
footprints at the site. Johnson has just completed a year-long London run in The Music Man and is about to begin an
American tour.
