417     January 25, 1961 (Taped January 4)
Bill, Betsy, Henry, Bess

In this unusual episode connected to Garry’s January 31 birthday, Garry takes a seat on the panel as each of the panelists have performance-related Secrets of their own.  The show is moderated, more or less, by a gentleman whose name is also Garry Moore (and who also has the same birthday), though he just reads from cue cards while the panelists do most of the work.

Betsy: “I’m going to play the piano (1st time in public)” and Bill: “I’m going to play the violin (1st time in my life)” and together: “…and we’re going to sing a duet”
They perform “Dear Old Gal,” with some minor lyric tweaks.

Bess: “I’m going to perform a comedy sketch with Durward Kirby…as the little old ladies Martha and Jennie”
“Martha and Jennie” are sketch characters normally played by Durward and Garry on Garry’s variety show.

Henry: “I’m going to do a ballet dance”
Henry performs with Jillana, principal dancer with the New York City Ballet.  The single-named Jillana made her debut with the company in 1947 at age thirteen and was promoted to principal dancer six years later, a position she held for twenty years.  She would become an instructor.  Her Jillana School in Taos, New Mexico is a Summer Intensive ballet program.
