Steve
DePass appears at the top of the show following a strong response to his
performance the previous week. He
performs briefly, and Garry surprises him with a contract to appear on the
Tuesday night variety show.
Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Rieger from
Miami: “On Christmas Eve – We’re celebrating our 50th wedding
anniversary”
Mr. and Mrs. Pat Rieger from Brooklyn: “On Christmas Eve – We’re
celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary"
Miss Roberta Rieger
from Brooklyn: “On Christmas Eve – I’m getting married” Wacky matrimony
with three generations of Riegers.
Roberta’s fiancé appears, and Garry has special gifts for all three
couples, including honeymoon arrangements for the newlyweds.
George Banakas from Pensacola , Florida: “I made that Christmas
tree…out of 200,000 toothpicks”
The set is
decorated for the holiday, with Mr. Banakas’ large tree adorned with ornaments
and surrounded by presents. Banakas is a restaurateur in Florida. He built the
tree in about seven week’s time for display at his own establishment.
Special Guest Faye Emerson: “I’m going to dress Henry Morgan as
Santa Claus”
Faye appears
on the show for the first time in nearly three years, since giving up her panel
spot in early 1958. She is nursing a
broken ankle, caused when she slipped on a patch of ice during a winter storm
in New York last week. We learn that the
presents on stage have been specifically selected for children in need who
wrote to Santa in care of the New York post office. Those presents will be
delivered by Henry and other staffers tonight.
