John Lindquist from Baltimore: “Garry Moore just picked me out of
the studio audience”
The shy,
bespectacled Mr. Lindquist seems a boring guest…until the celebrity guest
segment later in the show.
Mr. Parr from Long Island: “I’m going to drive a nail through a
2-inch board…with one of these bananas”
Mr. Parr comes out with a bunch of
bananas, some of which the panel enjoys during the questioning. The Secret has less to do with bananas and
more to do with science. Mr. Parr is a
science teacher who gives lectures in high schools on behalf of the Oak Ridge
(TN) Institute of Nuclear Studies, the Atomic Energy Commission and the
National Science Foundation. By freezing
a peeled banana in a solution of dry ice, he is able to use it as a hammer.
Special Guest Laurence Harvey, under
heavy disguise, was “John Lindquist” earlier in the show. He takes off the disguise
for the audience while the panel is offstage. The Lithuanian-born British actor
has recently earned an Academy Award nomination for Room at the Top (1959) and is filming BUtterfield 8 (1960). He would
continue to work in movies large and small until his untimely death in 1973 at
the age of 45.
