Fifteen brothers and sisters of the [Brown] family: “Two months
ago our mother was a finalist…in a bathing beauty contest”
Mrs. Brown
appears at the end of the segment and describes a typical day raising this
enormous family.
George Foster from Fort Worth, Texas: “I’m Garry Moore’s stand-in
on television”
Stand-ins are often the same general
height and build of the star for whom they are standing in, but the 6’1” Foster
towers over 5’7” Garry. Foster is
primarily the assistant choreographer on Garry’s variety show. He learns Garry’s dance moves and then
teaches them to Garry later in the rehearsal process. Like many staffers from Garry’s show, Foster
would go on to do much the same role on Carol Burnett’s variety series.
Singer Eddie Fisher was scheduled to be the special guest for tonight's show, but his management cancelled his appearance at the last minute over some concerns about the exclusivity of his contract with rival NBC. Whether they couldn't find a replacement in time or just didn't bother, Garry and the
panel play a game that was probably planned all along, minus a celebrity.
Garry has the panel write their responses to four open ended sentences,
such as “A woman who owns three mink coats is…”
He collects the responses and challenges the panelists to guess which
one gave what answer.
