The first of six new but pre-recorded summer
shows.
Sgt Martin DeFrancisco: “I was a contestant on ‘I’ve Got A Secret’
in Japan”
The Japanese version of the show,
known there as
Watashi No Himitsu
(My Secret), ran from 1955
until 1967. It was not an authorized
version, which appears to merely amuse Garry when he explains it. Versions of Secret have also aired over the years in
Australia
, the
UK
, Greece,
Denmark,
France
and The Netherlands.
Sgt. DeFrancisco’s Secret in Japan was that he is the only American to
master the art of handling a Samurai sword, which he demonstrates.
Mr. X from Tulsa, Oklahoma: “I led the gang…in the ‘Our Gang’
comedy movies (I’m Spanky McFarland)”
The Our Gang series of short comedy films
featuring child actors ran in various forms from 1922 until 1944. ‘Spanky’ joined the series in 1931 at the age
of three and stayed with it for eleven years, eventually becoming the biggest
star of the group and its de facto leader.
Repackaged versions of the shorts, mostly appearing on television, were
renamed The Little Rascals.
Special Guest Imogene Coca is joined
by Harry Harris, a longtime photographer for the Associated Press. Past photos of the panel will be projected
behind them, and Coca will imitate those poses for Harris. Coca is about to begin performing Bells Are Ringing in summer stock. Harris would have a celebrated fifty-year
career with AP, covering everything from John F Kennedy lying in state to Hank
Aaron hitting his 715th home run.
