Miss X from Helena, Montana: “I was the 1st woman ever elected to the U.S. Congress” (1916)
Jeannette Rankin was elected to congress before most American women even had the right to vote.  In Congress, she introduced legislation that would eventually become the 19th Amendment, granting suffrage to women across the country.  She served a single term originally, and then, years later, was elected again in 1940.  A lifelong pacifist, she cast the only vote against going to war with Japan following Pearl Harbor, a vote that destroyed her political career.  She is 78 in this appearance, and would live until 1973, long enough to protest the Vietnam War.

Special Guest Walter Slezak wants to know what the panel does in their “soundproof room.”
The staff has installed a two-way mirror in the room (actually an electronics storage room), and as the panelists are brought in, we see, but do not hear, the other panelists waiting their turn. They eventually turn on speakers in the room to tell Jayne their trick.

The remainder of the program is taken up with clips and memories of past stunts and tricks involving Jayne.  Jayne will be joining Walter Slezak in a new Broadway play called The Gazebo.  This is her last show as a regular panelist.  The Gazebo would be a modest success on Broadway, running for nearly seven months, though Jayne did not stay with the show for its entire run.
