Mildred Vern from Manhattan: “I’m going to
marry one of the cameramen on this show” (The one taking my picture now)
Wacky matrimony. During the game, a camera normally trained on
the panel gets reaction shots of Miss Vern’s fiancé Joe Schwartz. Joe Papp is seen briefly when Henry guesses
he’s the betrothed. The producers give
the couple a honeymoon in Hawaii.
Linda Lewis from San Francisco: “I’m the
youngest professional golfer in the world” (Age 6)
Linda’s first public appearance as a
golfer was at the age of 17 months, when she played a par-3 hole in 33
strokes. Now six, she tells Garry she
has shot 51 over a nine-hole course.
Linda and her father Chris performed traveling exhibitions as trick shot
artists. Linda demonstrates her prowess
by hitting a golf ball from a tee Garry holds in his mouth.
Special Guest Tony Randall and Garry compete
for the title of “Lover Doll of 1957”
Their competition involves various silly stunts testing their ability to seem suave. This is a reference to Randall’s
breakthrough role in Will Success Spoil
Rock Hunter? (1957). Randall is
also promoting his new film No Down
Payment (1957).
