Warwick Charlton from England: "I sailed to American aboard the Mayflower"
Specifically the Mayflower II, a replica ship which has just spent 53 days retracing the path of the original Mayflower that brough the Pilgrims to the New World. Charlton is one of the backers of the adventure, which he describes as a goodwill gesture toward the United States. The project ended up generating much more attention in England than it did on this side of the pond.
Special guest Lucille Ball
Lucy was to have performed with a chimpanzee. (Possibly Zippy, but documentation is unclear.) The bit would have involved the chimp and the legend dressed alike and Lucy aping every movement the chimp made. In rehearsal, the chimp proved a little too aggressive for Lucy's liking, injuring the star's wrist, and the bit got cancelled. Instead, Garry and his guest filled the time with an informal chat. Producer Allan Sherman later said, "That interview was one of the most interesting things the show has ever done."
