Bill, Jayne, Henry, Polly Bergen

Garry shows pictures from Henry’s performance at the Metropolitan Opera earlier in the week (the subject of last week’s Secret).

Roland Lindemann from Catskill, NY: “I have 2 full grown horses in this box”
“This box” is a large box wheeled onstage, but seemingly not big enough for one adult horse, much less two.  Mr. Lindemann owns the Catskill Game Farm, which opened in 1933 and continued to be owned by the Lindemann family until it closed in 2006.  In 1958, the USDA recognized the Catskill Game Farm as a zoo, the first privately owned venture to be given that designation.  At its peak, it held about 2000 animals.  Today, under new ownership, it is the site of a boutique animal-themed hotel.

Shirley Klinge from Indianapolis, IN: “I’ve been a bridesmaid 17 times…But never a bride”
Wacky lack of matrimony.  Following her appearance, newspaper reports say Miss Klinge was deluged with marriage proposals.  She would marry in 1959.

Special Guest Art Linkletter collects items for “Good Old Bill”
With the panel blindfolded, Garry and Linkletter go into the theatre and collect worthless items from the audience to be given to Bill Cullen.  Garry encourages the viewing audience to send in “junk” for Bill.  The viewer response became the entire subject of the following week’s program.
