203     September 26, 1956
Bill, Jayne, Henry, Marian McKnight

McKnight is the newly crowned Miss America 1957, winning her title at the September 6 pageant.  Garry presents Jayne with a birthday cake, which she claims is the first one she’s ever received.  This episode is abbreviated because the Democratic National Committee bought five minutes of CBS time at the end for an Adlai Stevenson campaign spot.

Jack Walsh from Trenton, New Jersey: “I’m going to lift a 2600 pound elephant”
Walsh works for the Hunt Brothers Circus, where he is billed (naturally) as the World’s Strongest Man.  He would make many television appearances performing his feats of strength. Even today, aficionados include him in conversations about the strongest men who ever lived.  After Walsh successfully lifts the pachyderm on its platform, Garry offers equal time in a political season by riding a donkey across the stage.

Special guest James Mason answers “yes” to questions that end with a consonant, and “no” to questions that end with a vowel.
The panel is even further confused by being blindfolded for the segment, and told Mason is “doing” something.  A distinguished British actor with a long career, Mason had recently appeared in two of his biggest early hits, as Captain Nemo in 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea (1954) and opposite Judy Garland in A Star is Born (1954).
