Koe is a staffer on Secret, filling in
for Jayne. She stayed with the show for
several years, mostly as an associate producer helping to bring the Secrets to life.
Jane Evans: “I
played hooky from High School with Bill Cullen”
Bill
attended South High School in Pittsburgh and graduated in 1939. Even then, he was known as a quick-witted
cut-up, and was hosting talent shows and student assemblies. A review in the school yearbook says, “the
student body is still applauding his clever imitation of great political
figures, and his steady and ready flow of Irish wit and charm.”
Bessie Brown from
Springfield, Mass: “I was voted the prettiest 75-year-old in the United States”
Mrs.
Brown won a “Sweet 75” contest sponsored by the Photographers’ Association of
America, which was celebrating its 75th anniversary. Her submitted photograph bested photos of all
the other 75-year-olds, and she became the queen of the organization's
convention in Chicago. Among the judges
for the finals was Eleanor Roosevelt.
Special Guest
Arnold Stang: “I spent most of my wedding night with Henry Morgan”
Stang and
Henry were frequent collaborators in radio and in early television programs. Stang usually played the stooge, the brunt of
Henry’s caustic wit. The two were fast
friends, however. When Stang married
Joanne Taggert in September of 1949, instead of a honeymoon, the couple opted
for a big party at celebrity watering hole Toots Shor’s. Henry picked up the tab. Here, Stang and Henry perform a skit from
their old radio days together.
