Jeanette Avallone from Brooklyn, New York: "I'm going to cut off my pigtails tonight"
Jeanette is a sweet ten-year-old who's clearly enjoying her TV moment. Garry says the show has "Mr Lawrence from Michelle of Helena Rubenstein" on hand to do the deed. Lawrence comes out and with two swift snips takes care of the pigtails, then takes Jeanette upstairs for a fancier hairdo. She returns at the end to show off her new look.
Mrs Reiken from Kew Garden Hills, New York: "I married his twin brother" and Mr Reiken from Kew Garden Hills, New York: "I married her twin sister"
Wacky matrimony. The foursome are Dan and Elliott Reiken and their spouses, Bernice ("Bunny") and Harriet ("Hunny") née Feller. Still, since no one's first name is ever mentioned on the show, we don't know which mismatched pair were actually the contestants. All four eventually make their way on stage. The couples were married in a "twin" ceremony in 1948. Identical twins marrying identical twins is fairly rare. Though recordkeeping for this sort of thing isn't exact, estimates are that it has happened less than 300 times worldwide. (Also see

Special guest Art Carney: "I am going to play 'Pin the Tail' on Bill Cullen"
As Art mentions with great fanfare, Bill's 34th birthday is tomorrow. The panel plays with various authentic-looking animal tails which they try, blindfolded, to tape (not pin) onto Bill's backside (and each others' as the game dissolves into hilarious chaos). At this point in his career, Carney is appearing on Jackie Gleason's variety show. Among the sketches on the show was The Honeymooners, in which Carney honed his iconic portrayal of sewer worker Ed Norton. The Honeymooners as a separate TV series would air for one legendary season of 39 episodes in 1955-56. Of his 13 career Emmy Award nominations, seven were primarily for playing Ed Norton. Of those seven nominations, six would result in wins.
