Before playing, Garry opens with a brief clip of the previous
week’s show, with Zippy the Chimp polishing Henry’s shoes. One shoe is seen to have a hole in it, and
Garry describes the flurry of mail the show received in response to that
sartorial blunder. Garry presents Henry
with a gift: Three pairs of shoes with holes in them, to give to the rest of
the panel.
[Leonard Payne] of Green Village, NJ: “I fell
asleep at a burlesque show.”
Mr. R: “I was one of the ‘Four Horsemen’ of
Notre Dame”
Harry Stuhldreher was the quarterback for the 1924 Notre Dame
football team. He and the other three members of the backfield were
given the sobriquet by legendary sportswriter Grantland Rice after an upset
victory against Army, after which Notre Dame launched a publicity blitz that
included a now-famous picture of the four on horseback.
Special Guest
Cesar Romero will step on Garrry’s foot every time the panel stumbles in their
questioning with an “um” or “ah”.
Romero
played a variety of Latin lovers and villains on film and television screens
for nearly 60 years. His work included
the original versions of The Thin Man (1934) and Ocean’s 11 (1960), as well
as several Disney movies of the 1960s, but he is arguably best remembered as
the cackling Joker from the “Batman” TV series (1966).
Zippy the Chimp makes a return
appearance at the end of the show, running around on stage to the great delight
of the audience.
