Capt Alfred Freiburger from St Petersburg, Florida: "I popped Sally Rand's bubble during her bubble dance"
This happened at the Florida Theatre years ago, when the captain was a mere schoolboy.  See E104 for more about Sally Rand.   Captain Freiburger is part of the North East Air Command for the USAF, on his way to an assignment in Newfoundland.  Four years earlier, as 1st Lieutenant Freiburger, he appeared in The Big Lift (1950), a drama about the Berlin Blockade.  The timely but fictional film starred Montgomery Cliff and Paul Douglas. Dozens of military roles were played by actual servicemen stationed in post-war Germany where the film was shot, using their real names.

Unidentified man: "I once lost my pants in a football game"
No way of knowing if we've got the right guy, but this fits an amusing moment that happened way back in 1932 and made headlines at the time. Notre Dame was visiting USC in the cavernous LA Coliseum. In the fourth quarter, after a short gain, Fighting Irish halfback Nick Lukats discovered that two Trojan defensive players had inadvertently broken the lacing on his pants when making the tackle, exposing Lukats to the 100,000 spectators in attendance.  He was quickly shielded and hurried over to the Notre Dame bench, where a reserve player gave up his own pants to get Lukats back in the game.  It was all for naught, however, as Southern Cal triumphed 13-0.

Jo-An Bazin from Fanwood, New Jersey: "I'm being sworn into the Marines...tonight"
Bazin is an attractive 18-year-old who has spent some time modeling.  She currently works at a nursery school in Fenwood.  Col Carl Hoffman, the officer in charge of New York area recruiting for the Marine Corps is on hand.  Original plans had been for Col Hoffman to administer the oath to Miss Bazin live on the air, but the show ran into timing problems and she was sworn in later. In November, 1954, Bazin would become engaged to a fellow Marine, Technical Sergeant Joseph R Jones.  She would also drop the hyphen from her first name, becoming Joan Jones.
