Bill, Jayne, Henry, Kitty Carlisle
[Sam Tarratoni] of Brooklyn: “I’m going to be drafted tomorrow”
[Charlotte Wartman] from Stamford, CT: “I saw
Bill Cullen’s wedding”
In a simpler era, Bill’s bride
casually mentioned on the radio the name of the church where she and Bill would
be getting married, and Mrs. Wartman essentially crashed the wedding. This was his 1948 wedding to Carol Ames, a radio vocalist appearing at the time on something called Sing Along. They would divorce in 1955 and Bill would
marry Ann Macomber on Christmas Eve of that year.

Special Guest Lizabeth Scott: “I have dimpled
knees”
Beautiful, sultry-voice Scott was a
popular leading lady in film noir thrillers of the 1940s and early 50s, but
like so many young starlets, her film career fizzled after a few years. Barely 30 at the time of this appearance, she
would only make a handful of movies after it.
Scott was also a stage actress, and rumored to be the inspiration for
Eve Harrington, the manipulative understudy in the classic film All About Eve. Late in her life, she was seen socially with,
of all people, Michael Jackson.
Jane Eisenhauer of Kenosha, Wisconsin: “I voted for
Adlai Stevenson”
It is established that Jane is not
related to the president-elect, though nothing is said about their names not even being spelled the same. This was
the sort of safe, silly, middle-of-the-road approach to political humor that
drove the show throughout its long, long run. Why the local newspaper thought Ed Sullivan was the guest, why it didn't mention Garry Moore by name, and why Bill is referred to as "William" is a mystery lost to the ages.
