Gus Hobbs of Westport, CT: “I have one million dollars cash in my pockets”
G. Warfield “Gus” Hobbs is carrying one hundred $10,000 bills.  Hobbs is VP of the National City Bank of NYC and is on the show in support of the annual “Red Feather Campaign,” a federal effort to raise $19 million in voluntary funding for the United Defense Fund and the USO.  The USO had been established in 1941, dissolved in 1947, and revived in 1951 in response to the Korean conflict.  It continues to provide entertainment and other services to American armed forces today.

[Harold Stage] of North Plainfield, NJ: “I was married two hours ago.”
Wacky matrimony.

Special Guest Corinne Calvet: “I like beards on men.”
Calvet was a sultry French actress whose acting talent was not on par with her exotic looks and seductive persona. In a relatively brief career playing various young temptresses she had few particularly noteworthy roles.  In her later years she became known as much for her explosive personal life, including multiple marriages and legal battles, as for her occasional acting jobs.

[Mrs. Wolfe] from Worcester, MS: “My husband looks like Garry Moore”
Even though the producers dress Mr. Wolfe up in a matching outfit to what Garry is wearing, there’s frankly not much of a resemblance beyond the crew cut.
