Marty Reisman and Martin Doss from New York City: “We’re going to
play table tennis…using 3 balls at the same time”
Garry explains (correctly) that
“Ping-Pong,” the more common term then and now for the activity, is a
trademarked name. The two experts, with
many championship titles between them, put on an entertaining, choreographed
show rather than actually compete. Both today
are legends of the sport. Reisman is
enshrined in the USA Table Tennis Hall of Fame.
Delia and Bertie Harris of Knoxville, Tennessee: “Our grandfather
was a soldier in the Revolutionary War (1776-1781)”
Simon Harris was born in 1766 and
served as a fifer at the age of twelve, later serving with Washington at Valley
Forge and witnessing Cornwallis’ surrender at Yorktown. The youngest of Simon’s ten children was born
in 1818. That son’s second wife gave
birth to Delia and Bertie (and a third sister) while he was in his seventies.
Special Guest Arthur Treacher enters
on horseback. His Secret is that he’s
going to give the horse to Henry, who then will be required to trade it for
some other item of value. Henry rides
the horse offstage. We learn the results
of Henry’s horse trading the following week.
