Carson, the future late-night legend,
is the host of Who Do You Trust on,
as Garry likes to say, “another network” (ABC).
He would make several appearances on the show, as both panelist and guest.
“Johnny” from Peekskill, New York: “I can ride a scooter”
Johnny, who appeared briefly the
previous week, is a small poodle in town to compete in the Westminster Kennel
Club show in Madison Square Garden.
Garry mentions Alex Pulaski and Joe Stetson as the dog’s breeders. “Count” Alexis Pulaski was a famous breeder
and society maven known as “Mr. Poodle.” He ran a store and salon called
Poodles, Incorporated in Manhattan, whose clients included Judy Garland, Gary
Cooper and Eva Peron. We are also introduced
to the “Best In Show” winner from the previous night’s event, a miniature
poodle named Dunwalk’s Champion Fontclair Festoon, along with her handler Anne
Rogers.
Mr. X from Long Island: “I am a one-man band…I was the 1st
amateur on the 1st ‘Major Bowes Amateur Hour’ (1933)…I’ll be the
entire orchestra on Henry Morgan’s new TV show…Henry has never met me”
Vince Mondi has a lot of Secrets to
unpack. Mondi’s novelty act toured,
played in clubs, and got him TV appearances on everything from The Mike Douglas Show to Captain Kangaroo. He performs here, of course. Henry’s new TV show is Henry Morgan and Company, a weekly late-night talk show that would
debut in two days. It aired Fridays in
New York and throughout the country on a loosely connected network of stations
known as NTA. It wouldn’t last the rest
of the year.
Special Guest Rocky Graziano
The champ attempts
various scouting tasks under the scrutiny of nine troop members, while the
panel asks their questions blindfolded. Garry joins Rocky in attempting the
tasks. Both of them wear Boy Scout
uniforms for the segment.
