Unidentified contestant:  “I invented the strapless bathing suit”
When it comes to fashion, it's often difficult to conclusively point to this designer or that for "inventing" a particular style, and since Fates does not provide a name in his notes, we have no idea who this contestant might have been.

Sam Ulano from The Bronx: “I tell fairy tales while playing the drums”
Ulano is a jazz drummer and teacher known for including humor and personality into his act, and sure enough, one of his bits was rhythmically reciting fairy tales while performing on his drums.  He would end up recording an album of them, and perform some of them in various TV appearances including Garry's morning show.  In 1955 he would set a record for marathon drum playing at more than 61 straight hours, but his record would fall the following year.  While he never made a huge mark on the industry, Ulano stayed with it his entire life and would eventually reach a sort of "elder statesman" status, settling into a long residency at a Manhattan nightclub from the late 80s into the early 2000s.

Special guest Edward Arnold:  “I am going to answer the first question with 1 word, the second with 2 and so on”
Arnold was a leading man in films of the 1930s, transitioning as he got older (and heavier) into juicy character parts. He usually played authority figures, often villainous ones.  He made over 150 films, and was so in demand at his peak that he would occasionally be working on two productions at the same time.  In 1936, Arnold became the first actor to play detective Nero Wolfe on screen.
