Jack Paar, Jayne, Henry, Polly Bergen

Paar at this point is a rising television star with several variety and game shows under his belt, but nowhere near the icon he would eventually become. In August, Paar would take over hosting duties for CBS's troubled morning show called, cleverly, The Morning Show.  He would leave that show in 1957 to take over the NBC Tonight program, where he would become a legend.

Three unidentified men: "We all used to date the same girl (one of us married her)”
Barely wacky matrimony.

7-year-old Mike Loughren from Oxford, New York: "This dog saved me from drowning"
The story goes that when Mike was only two years old, he slipped and fell into a drainage ditch behind the family’s home.  His German shepherd named Captain, then only a puppy, grabbed his clothes and kept him from falling underwater until mom saw the commotion and came to pull the boy out.  Mike tells Garry that he came on the show “to win some money.”  Even though the panel guessed his secret quickly, Garry awarded him the entire $80.

Special Guest Jeanne Crain: "I am going to answer YES and NO alternately"
Though a popular and successful actress with an Academy Award nomination to her credit (for 1949's Pinky), at her peak Crain's reputation was that of "Hollywood's #1 Party Girl."  In a 1955 interview, Crain claimed she was invited to at least 200 parties a year.  Quick-witted and bubbly, she was also highly sought after to appear on various game shows, including another visit to Secret in 1959 ( E332 ).
