Mrs X: "My husband was Casey Jones"
Elevated to mythical status by a popular ballad, Casey Jones was a real person, a railroad engineer who lost his life in April, 1900 when his passenger train collided with the caboose of a stalled freight train near the tiny village of Vaughan, Mississippi.  Jones' heroics at the controls are credited with saving the lives of his passengers and crew.  Jones himself was the only fatality that day.  On July 24th, a throng of 5,000 folks (much more than expected) turned out in Vaughan for "Casey Jones Days" festivities, where they heard from several speakers including Mrs Jones.  Janie Jones spent much of her life trying to separate fact from legend about her husband in the public eye, often threatening legal action against newspapers and magazines which she felt wronged his legacy.  At the event, the feisty 83-year-old made headlines with her spirited behavior, possibly catching the attention of the Secret staff.  Today, while there are other museums and sites dedicated to Casey Jones, Vaughan itself has become an abandoned ghost town.
